This is a judge who makes determination on child abuse cases in his court room.
The daughter, in my opinion, has done the right action for the benefit of the larger community. Her mother has come to an understanding of what happened back then (seven years ago) as well.
Letting the secrets bubble to the surface is healthier in the long run than keeping them suppressed.
